Circles Luncheon 2019 – Be a Game Changer!

News

Wow. We are absolutely blown away by the incredible support we received at the 2019 Circles Luncheon. It will be a tough one to beat!

On Monday, November 4, over 1,000 people gathered together at the VBC to celebrate and support CWJC. We were thrilled to have people from all over our community join us. And because of generous sponsors, we were also able to reserve 8 tables for students and graduates, allowing them to also be encouraged and inspired.

Yet, more than the financial support, we are incredibly grateful for the prayers in continuing the mission and impact of CWJC. We also rely on dedicated volunteers who have a heart for teaching and encouraging the women in our program to make positive changes in their lives.

This year, we are excited to honor Diane Matthews with the Babs Christy Volunteer of the Year Award. This award goes to a volunteer who demonstrates passion, commitment, and excellence in efforts for our ministry. As the current Career Readiness Coordinator at our Union Hill site, Diane started volunteering as a mock interviewer in 2011. She now works gathering the speakers for each Career night, reviewing & editing the student resumes, and coordinating the candidates for the mock Interviews. Also, she has even stepped in temporarily as a Site Coordinator when she was needed. We are truly grateful for Diane and the other wonderful volunteers who take our mission to heart.

Circles guests were also blown away by author Liz Huntley’s keynote. Liz shared the story of how women in both her church and her school stepped up to be game changers for her. By simply greeting her each day and making her feel welcome, these women showed her life-changing love. She reminded us that individual people were responsible for being her “game changers” by loving her. Just as these women made Liz feel valued, we should be open to looking for and welcoming opportunities to be game changers for someone else. And, as Liz so eloquently shared, by loving women through education and church, CWJC does just that- changing the lives of women and their families for the better.

And last, but certainly not least, we would like to offer a big “Thank You” to the Circles committee and event sponsors, CWJC staff and board, supporting churches, and everyone in attendance. You are a blessing to us, and we pray that you, in turn, were blessed by this event.

If you missed it, be sure to check out photos from the event and be sure to sign up for an invitation for next year’s event!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the incredible support we received at this year’s Circles Luncheon! We are so grateful for the support our community provides and look forward to another great year of helping underserved women in our community.
